Hollywood Florida

Just south of Fort Lauderdale is the city of Hollywood. Across the eastern shore of Hollywood is Hollywood Beach in Broward County Florida. The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is on the south side of Fort Lauderdale close to Hollywood. Port Everglades nearby has some cruise departures so it’s easy to combine a stay in Hollywood with a cruise.

I’ve stayed in Hollywood Florida a few times. The Broadwalk stretches over a mile along the beach, quite enjoyable. Several Broadwalk benches along the way let you sit and enjoy the view when you need to rest your feet a while. A small hotel named the Ocean Inn was a treat, only a block from the Broadwalk.

Many quiet small hotels facing the beach here, no large big-name hotels. No free parking anywhere in Hollywood Beach, there is a big multi-story parking garage about the middle of the beach. There is a bandshell about halfway along the Broadwalk, with a cluster of shops and restaurants around it. Choose from outdoor dining venues facing the beach.

Lots of bicycles and skateboards along the Broadwalk, although there is a designated side for them you must be alert. There is a pleasant small public library near the south end of Hollywood Beach At the north end of Hollywood Beach is a public park. A bus runs along Hollywood Beach and takes you to a roundabout at the center of Hollywood.

The South Florida Tri-Rail system runs from Miami to West Palm Beach, stopping along both Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale along the way. The Fort Lauderdale aviation department runs a free shuttle bus to the Tri-Rail station. Interstate highway I-95 is the busy main drag across Broward County. Old US highway One, also called Dixie Highway, runs closer to the coast through Hollywood Florida
