Boulder Colorado

Returned to Denver in April of 2018 from my home in Florida. Landed at the new to me Denver Airport aboard Southwest Airlines, a pleasant nonstop from Tampa. As we landed there was a thin white dusting of snow that disappeared shortly after landing. It was a bit cool but quite pleasant. Two days later went to visit Boulder Colorado.

Took a bus from Denver Union Station to Boulder, a pleasant trip that runs frequently. Visited Boulder Colorado as a kid when living in Denver. Back in the sixties it was a faraway drive to this University of Colorado town. Today it’s a northwest suburb of Denver, the entire stretch between the two cities is built up. All that vacant scenery from the 60s between Denver and Boulder is mostly gone. There was a strong cool wind in central Boulder when arriving, was not prepared for that so made a brief visit.

Stayed at a hotel on the south side of Downtown Denver near Speer Boulevard. My hotel was right on a bus line and next to a King Sooper grocery store, quite convenient. About fifteen minutes to the Downtown bus depot across from the Colorado State Capitol. Across the street from the bus depot is the 16th Street Mall, an outdoor pedestrian mall that runs for several blocks.

A free bus circulates through the 16th Street Mall, providing rest for weary and hungry walkers and connecting to Denver Union Station. The light rail system departs from Union Station, reaching the airport on the east end and the city of Golden on the west.

Golden Colorado is directly south of Boulder Colorado on the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, where Coors Beer is based. It’s a panoramic ride aboard the Denver Light Rail to Golden.
